The sign of Satan?
A circular has been received by the North Toowoomba Progress Association advertising a musical play entitled "Genesis". Contained in its text is a mention of the Ark and the Flood. This gives the impression that the patrons would be witnessing a play with a strong Biblical content; but there was something about the letter-head on the circular that raised doubts in the minds of our members as to the real purpose of the production. It was decided that intending patrons should be warned - if they decide to attend -to do so with a reserved and guarded mind. Readers might ask: Why? And we give our reason.

Following the initial letter from the then Honarary Secretary of the North Toowoomba Progress Association, there were a number of Letters To The Editor including a response from Lloyd Nickson.
Lloyd's Response
As a Christian, I am amazed that the "genesis" banner should cause such a reaction. As a designer, I am interested that such a sign could be interpreted with such broad and terrifying meaning. Let me explain.

With reference to the letter "The Sign of Satan," (T.C. 5-5-77): I can only reply that it is a pity that Mr Larkin has nothing better to do with his time than to pull to pieces the title, "genesis", which is the forthcoming production of the Darling Downs Youth Theatre.
